Laser cutting can be used across all creative industries. Our machines can cut, engrave / raster and line etch a range of materials. Whether you are immersed in architecture, product design, industrial design, fashion design, graphic design or just want to get creative; laser cutting is a great way to prototype, model, personalise, or manufacture a final product; from one piece to large volume runs.
Our studio is an approachable creative space with a relaxed atmosphere and a small team dedicated to personalised service. We are focused on providing fast efficient laser cutting services across the board.
We believe in transparent pricing, no hidden costs or vague estimates. Check out our price list to get an idea of pricing for your project, we can assure you that our prices are competitive and we're happy to quote for specific jobs.

Check that your file is set up according to our file set up guide and then email us the file and drop in (or us post) your material, we'll check over your job and let you know an estimated timeframe for your job to be completed, usually same day or next day.

PRICE LIST
Whether you are a student, individual or commercial entity we are confident that our prices per hour are the most competitive in Auckland. Our price per hour does not mean that you have to cut for an hour to receive this rate, we will charge you only for the time of your specific job.

Laser cutting for students
Our two 130W power laser cutters are more than double the size and power of most local university laser cutters in Auckland. This gives us the ability to cut thicker materials faster and at larger sheet sizes.
Our hours may be extended for students during hand in times. These additional hours are posted on our facebook and twitter close to hand in week. Our hours are only extended if our team determines that there is a high enough demand for our services.
Differentiating between student, individual and commercial jobs is at the discretion of the make shop team. If you would like a quote for a specific job please contact us.
student PRICING
We are confident that our student price per hour is the most competitive in Auckland. Our price per hour does not mean that you have to cut for an hour to receive this rate, we will charge you only for the time of your specific job.

*Students must provide a valid student ID to receive the student price. Students may not request the student rate on behalf of a commercial entity where the commercial entity is providing funding for the job.

How do I set up my files for cutting?
Please see our laser cutting file set up guide for full instructions on how to set up your file.
Can you set up files for me?
Yes we can set up file for you, we charge $115 p/h for file set up. Please contact us for a quote on your job.
What is your usual turn around time?
We generally have a same day to next day turn around except during busy periods when our turn around time can extend to 1 - 2 days. At this time we usually have extended hours to keep wait times to a minimum.
What file types do you accept?
Illustrator, PDF, SVG, DWG 2013, DXF 2103.
Do you supply materials?
Yes, we have the following materials in stock

What are your laser cutters bed sizes?
Large Machine: 1200mm x 880mm
Small Machine: 900mm x 570mm
Materials and file sizes should not exceed these sizes.
Can you cut metal?
No
What type of materials can you cut?
We can cut paper, cardboard, corrugated cardboard, acrylic perspex, MDF, LDF, interior plywood, solid wood, pine, veneers, balsa wood, fabric, leather, foam board and corflute.
Some specific materials contain chemical compounds that are released as extremely toxic gases when cut, such as chlorine gas. We reserve the right to refuse cutting of such materials as they are not only harmful to our team but also to yourself. We are open to trying other materials so if you are unsure if we can cut your material please research it or contact us to confirm.
What thickness can you cut?
We can cut materials between .01mm - 9mm of thickness. Note that the thicker your materials the more likely the cut will be slanted due to the nature of laser cutting. Please contact us if you are unsure what thickness we can cut in your material.
Do you have extended hours?
Extended hours are only available to students at specific times of the year (during hand-ins / crits / presentations). Please see our footer (at the bottom of the page), Twitter or Facebook page for updates.
Can I make a booking?
We do not take bookings, call before you come in or email us to check the turn around time. During our busy times when we have a queue you can reserve your space in the queue by either bringing in your materials (and emailing your file later) or emailing your file (and bringing in your materials later).
